Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 6, 2026

The short version:

  • We collect what FastR needs to work: your account, your cars and posts, the runs you record, and your approximate area.
  • The GPS route of a run stays private to you. Other people see your results, never your coordinates.
  • We don't sell your data and we don't show ads.
  • You can delete your account, and everything in it, from inside the app at any time.

Who we are

FastR is made by FastR Studios Inc., a company based in Ontario, Canada ("FastR", "we", "us"). This policy covers the FastR iPhone app and fastrhq.com. It's part of our Terms of Use.

What we collect

Your account

  • From Sign in with Apple or Google: an account identifier from the provider, your email address (or an Apple private relay address, if you chose to hide yours) and, if the provider shares it, your name.
  • Your profile: username, display name, profile photo, country flag and whether your account is private.

What you add and post

  • Your cars: make, model, year, specs, colour, modifications and photos.
  • Posts, photos, captions, comments, likes, mentions, follows and challenges.
  • People you block and anything you report to us.

Your runs

When you time a run, the app records your phone's GPS position, speed, heading, altitude and motion sensors for the length of the run. We store that recording with the run's results and any private notes you add. The recording is used to calculate and check your result, and it is visible only to you. Your posted result, and the side-by-side replay of a challenge, show times, distances and speeds, never coordinates.

Your approximate area

If you allow location access, the app sends your location while you're signed in. We round it to about 1 km before storing it, so we never keep a precise point. We use it to show you posts from nearby and to suggest your country flag. It is never shown to other people. If you don't allow location access, we use your phone's region setting to suggest a flag instead.

Device and usage

  • A push notification token for your phone, your phone's time zone (so reminders arrive in the daytime) and when you last used the app.
  • Usage analytics from Google Firebase Analytics, such as which screens are opened and app version. Firebase uses an app-instance identifier, not your name or email.

Purchases

In-app purchases are handled by Apple. We receive confirmation of what you bought so we can unlock it. We never see your card or payment details.

How we use it

  • To run FastR: your account, your garage, timing, leaderboards, challenges, the feed, comments and likes.
  • To rank the feed, including showing posts from people near you and cars like yours.
  • To send notifications: activity on your posts, follows, challenge updates and reminders, and occasional nudges about what you've missed. You can turn these off in your iPhone's Settings at any time.
  • To keep FastR safe: reviewing reports, enforcing blocks and our community rules, and preventing abuse.
  • To fix bugs and improve the app.

We don't sell your personal information, share it for advertising, or use it to profile you for anyone else.

Service providers

We use a small number of companies to run FastR. They process data only on our behalf:

  • Amazon Web Services: hosting our servers, database and stored photos and run recordings.
  • Apple: Sign in with Apple, push notifications and in-app purchases.
  • Google: Google Sign-In and Firebase Analytics.

These providers may store or process data in Canada, the United States or other countries. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect people's safety.

Keeping and deleting

We keep your information while your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, cars, posts, photos, runs, comments, likes and follows. Deletion is permanent. Copies in our backups are removed as those backups expire.

Your choices and rights

  • Delete your account: in the app, open Settings from your profile, then Account → Delete Account.
  • Edit or remove your profile details, photo, posts and comments at any time in the app.
  • Make your account private in Settings → Account Privacy.
  • Location and notifications can be switched off in your iPhone's Settings → FastR.
  • Access or correction: email us to get a copy of your data or ask us to correct it.

Depending on where you live, privacy laws such as Canada's PIPEDA, the EU and UK GDPR, or California's CCPA may give you further rights. Email us and we'll respond within 30 days. In Canada you can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children

FastR is not for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email us and we'll delete it.

Security

Data travels between the app and our servers over encrypted connections. Photos and run recordings are stored privately and are only reachable through short-lived links the app requests. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit who and what can reach your data.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If the changes are significant, we'll tell you in the app before they take effect.
